Trolley Car No. 85 Moves Out of CATS Light Rail Facility
The historic trolley Car No. 85, Charlotte's last (known) remaining original streetcar in existence, was moved out of the Charlotte Area Transit's (CATS) light rail maintenance facility on Thursday, October 9th, to a secure location in north Charlotte. The move comes as a result of Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) requiring more space in their maintenance facility to house new light rail vehicles for the Blue Line LRT.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission, which owns Car No. 85, will provide the car to Lakewood Trolley, when the Lakewood Line is ready for operations.
